One good way to optimize your adsense earnings is to fine tune the ads displayed on your website. Not all ad formats are equal, some do better than others.
A good example of this is a top page ad. With using common sense what do you think would be better, placing a 468x60 Banner Ad or a 200x200 small square? Obviously the Banner ad would be best, because it looks like it belongs and it runs wide to better match up with the contours of your blog. Now think about how a 200x200 small square would look. It would just look out of place like its sitting in the middle of nowhere.
The lesson is to use your judgement and use the ad that would fit best in the place you plan on putting it. Try out different types and get the feel of how they would look in your website.
Another thing to think of is where on your blog will you put ads. The obvious choices are the top of the page, the right and left of the page, and at the bottom.
Think about how someone reads a website. Their eyes start at the left side of the page and moves to the right when reading. Since reading naturally brings the eye to the right side of the page it would be smart to place ads on the right side instead of the left. Ads placed on the right side of the page are more likely to catch the eye.
You can also think of the colors of the ad. What color will the border and text be? What about the background? You can go about doing this a few ways.
You can choose to blend the ads with your website so your ads look like they belong and fit well with your template. Or you can Match your template completely.
If you wanted to make your ads stand out you can adjust them so the colors are the opposite of your template. This could be a good thing or a bad thing. Of course you want to draw attention to your ads but that could be the wrong way in doing it. Its better for it to come naturally, like I said above how a person reads from the left to the right and their eyes will be drawn to the ads on the right.
While I can't tell you what will work for your website, if you incorporate some of the things I suggested into your website you can figure out what works for you.
Try your ads one way, then keep track of how they are producing click/revenue wise then try it a different way. Compare your results and fine tune the ads so they perform better and better for you.
I recently tried adjusting my ad type on one of my ads and noticed within 5 days that it actually hurt instead of helped, so I just changed it again but to a similar format I had before. I think that will do better. If it doesn't perform as good as the original format did I will change it back. You don't know unless you try.
I wish everyone luck with their ad setup.

Adsense Earnings Report For January 17th - January 21st
I have my next earnings report ready to share for you. I am really happy with this report because it has improved since my last earnings report.
Keep in mind I am only reporting my Adsense earnings. Other money earned from private advertisers and affiliates are not included in my reports. I just wanted to record my blogs Adsense earnings so I can compare it to my other income streams. I also wanted those of you creating a new blog and using Adsense to monetize it to get a idea of what to expect and possibly learn a thing or two from my reports.
So here is my Adsense earnings report for Jan. 17th - Jan. 21st
Jan 17th earnings: 0.52
Jan 18th earnings: 0.62
Jan 19th earnings: 0.53
Jan 20th earnings: 0.34
Jan 21st earnings: 0.66
Not to shabby this time for a fairly new blog. Keep in mind I didn't monetize my blog until I had enough quality content. You don't want to create a new blog and fill it with advertisements right away as that will deter visitors from coming back.
In my last report my earnings actually decreased each day. So my goal was to have my earnings increase each day. While they didn't increase everyday, they didn't decrease everyday either. And my last earning report was the highest. So I will consider that goal a success.
It's important to set short term goals that you can accomplish as it's a means of measuring your progress. Many new bloggers get discouraged because they don't see they revenue they expected. So to prevent that its better to start small and set goals that you can accomplish. It's also a good idea to set long term goals. Those may take a lot longer to reach but when accomplished you really feel like you are succeeding.
My next goal is to earn at least $3.50 by the end of this month. You may think that is to easy but I assure you when your just starting out even making a few cents a day is a accomplishment. Anyone just starting to monetize their new blog will tell you the same thing.
My (I guess you can call it) medium term goal will be to earn at least a dollar a day. I would like to see that in under 6 months. That will be pretty challenging but I am up for it.
As for a long term goal I hope to make $100.00 a day just from Adsense. I won't set a deadline but I would love to see that happen within a year.
If you have a newish blog you just monetized feel free to share your recent earnings. For those of you who have established blogs let us know how long it was before you starting earning a decent income. How long did it take for you to start earning over a dollar a day? What about $40.00 dollars a day?

Earnings Report For January 14th - January 16
Four days after my first earnings report I am ready to give a update on my daily earnings. As I stated in my first post my first goal is to earn at least something everyday. I didn't want to say one day of 0.00 earnings. I think that is a reasonable goal at this early stage.
So lets see how I did.
Jan 14th earnings: 0.35
Jan 15th earnings: 0.19
Jan 16th earnings: 0.03
Not bad, so far I am making my goal by making at least something each day. Weird to see the earnings drop. Hopefully in my next earnings report we will see a increase.
Earning a good income from a blog is not easy. It doesn't happen overnight and is not a get rich quick scheme. It requires dedication and a lot of work. Creating good content is the most important thing to work on to get started. It takes time to write good content and even more time for that content to start bringing in visitors. After awhile you will notice others linking to you and that is just the beginning.
Just about everyone who tries to earn a living from blogging fails. The ones who succeed are the lucky few who keep at, writing good content while building quality backlinks. Of course having a good reader base is also important and that will come as you create more and more quality content.
So lets see how I did.

Setting Goals For My Online Income Earnings.
Its a fact that there are very few people who make a living from online revenue. This is especially true if your a blogger. A staggering 95% of Blogs are abandoned within just one year so that leaves us with the other 5%. Unfortunate not all 5% make a good income if any at all. Most likely only a few percent of people actually make good money from blogging
Sometimes new bloggers get frustrated because they are not seeing enough income, or any at all. When you just start out most likely when you check your Adsense you will see this: Today's Estimated Earnings 0.00. Don't get discouraged though, it takes time to start seeing a income.
So a way to measure your progress would be to set some goals. Below are three really good goals to set for yourself.
Make sure the goals you set are reachable in a good amount of time. You could even add in one last goal to have all of your first 3 goals to be completed in (enter time-frame here)
Because the blog I own is already up and running I am going to start with the goal to at least make some money everyday from the blog. Weather I make 1 cent or 10 dollars I just want to see some sort of income everyday.
So I will start now with my first earnings report (I am only reporting adsense earnings)
Jan. 13th 2014 Adsense Earnings: 09.00
If you just made a blog feel free to share you earning experiences. And if you have a established blog and your already making money let us know how old your blog is, when you starting to earn money, and how much you make a month now.
Keep a look out for my next earnings report.

A Work In Progress
This blog is currently a work in progress. I will be using it to keep track of my online income and measure my success or failure. Keeping track of your online income along with what you do is important to recognize what is working, and what isn't.
I will keep track of my earnings month to month and when I can in between months. With the income reports I will also keep note of what I have done to earn that income. Any changes I make and new income streams will be accounted for.
Keeping track of my earnings in this way will show me what changes were good, and what were not. This is so I can learn from it and adjust my earning strategy's accordingly. Anyone is welcome to ride along with me in this roller-coaster. Maybe you will learn a thing or two also. At the very least you can learn from my mistakes.
I currently have a popular blog that gets a good amount of traffic so that will be a main factor in my online income. For now I will not name that blog.
So if your just finding this blog now you can follow along with me from the very start. Next post I will talk about my goals.
Setting goals can be another way to measure your success. You have to set reasonable attainable goals. For instance setting a goal of making a $100.00 a day in three months is a unrealistic goal for just about everyone. You want to be able to achieve the goal you set. Just reaching your goal can give you a lot of hope and ambition. So I will start small and work my way up to more challenging goals.
Check back soon to see what my goal will be.
